Understanding how we learn

A while back, there was an article about how one of the ways to improve learning among students is to talk with them about how they learn. It seems that understanding that learning is a process helps increase the relevance of learning.  Once students realize that they don’t have to “get it” the first time, they relax, making the rewiring of the brain an easier process.

Related to that article is a website that offers the opportunity to include that mindset in the classroom. The website is here, with classroom supports and everything: http://www.mindsetworks.com/default.aspx It’s a fascinating and helpful site.
